What you are about to see may disturb you. I warn you it is not pretty and your bottom may pucker. You will definitely put your hand on your mouth. Poor Kayleigh had a rough week. As many of you have heard, she got hit in the mouth at softball practice on Wednesday, by accident, with a bat. She was walking behind a girl hitting balls off a tee, she didn't hear Kayleigh, and Kayleigh was just too close and whammo! Right in the kisser.

She lost half of her front left tooth, her bottom teeth went through and through below her lips, and she had two very fat lips. But thankfully the swelling went down pretty much by the next morning and the cut below where her teeth went through is pretty much gone now. A week or so more with Neosporin and it won't even show. We have to wait a few more weeks to see what's going on with her tooth and then the dentist will determine if she needs a root canal and a cap or just do a build up since we couldn't reattach the piece of her tooth. We think she swallowed it because it was MIA. Everything is going to be OK. I am so greatful we live in a country that has such advances in dentistry and she will have her lovely smile back again soon. Like this one. Becky and Kayleigh can be tooth sisters since Becky's front teeth are fake due to an unfortunate face vs. the pavement accident when she was 9.

Now, I don't know what the pictures say about me as a mother if I'm making my beat up child take pictures. I didn't make her smile, and for me that's something. It's all a process.

Butt callous

I'm going to update the exercise stuff first since this has been a crazy week in the Lowder home. First, I am proud to say that I survived my second yoga class. It was actually fun, relaxing, and a whole lot easier to do when your blood is evenly distributed throughout your body. I am totally going to do it again. However, I don't feel like it gives me a real, I'm going to die, put me out of my misery, work out. That honor goes to spinning. I made it through and it was tough. My tush still hurts. Mainly because the seat was like sitting on hard plastic. Apparently, you get use to it but only after you develop a butt callous. It took me most of the class to become coordinated enough to stand up and peddle for more that 3 seconds. It was a great class and I like that you can go at your own level, which I did because everyone else seemed like pros. I've decided that I will do spinning one day and yoga the next to stretch out my sore muscles. So, that's pretty much all the exercise I got this week because after I finished that class, all hell broke loose at our house and things still have not calmed down yet.

Weigh in

I went to my second BC meeting last night and weighed in. I lost 4.6 lbs!! Now I don't know if it's because I felt bloated the first week or this thing is actually working but yay me! Either way I don't care. It gave me an extra kick in the pants, so off to the gym I go. I am going to try the yoga class again today and spinning tomorrow. I'm going to die and I will let you read all about it. Here's to not passing out.

Downward Grandma

I had my first dose of reality the other day about my total out of shapeness. I decided to go work out the day after my first Biggest Challenge (hereafter known as BC) meeting. I thought, I'll go to the Y and run/walk on the treadmill for 30 min. and then catch the 45 min yoga class. I've done pilates before (been a while but I was decent at it) so how different could yoga be. Ya, it's different. I ran into my friend Sarah and said come with me to this class. We introduced ourselves to the instructor, picked a place (of course at the front like good students) and prepared to breath and bend ourselves into smokin' hotness. I'm looking around the room, checking out the other students, and thought I can totally do this. There was this frail little 70 year old lady in front of me, some tall middle aged guy at the back in jeans, and some houswives in the middle. The long and short of it, after about 15 minutes I started to black out. I had to go sit down, breath and drink some water. I was done. All the while the class went on, occassionally changing poses, turned in my direction. Awsome. Let's just say when they turned the other way I grabbed my mat and got the heck out. Granny handed me my tush that day. Lesson learned. I'm going to take that class again, except the next time I'm heading to the back to hide like all the other slackers.

Biggest Challenge

Anyone who knows me knows that I have never been a tiny girl. I'm not the type of person who is constantly on a diet but I'm always talking about losing weight. About a six months ago my friend Sheri told me about volunteering at the YMCA. When you do you get a free adult membership. Now they have to have a position and you have to apply just like a normal job. Well, I kind of put it off and they didn't have a spot for a while but the stars aligned and I started about a month ago. It's great! The people I work with are really nice, customers are happy to be there (not like at the hospital where I work), and it's just fun and easy. I decided to make an effort to actually use my membership and I signed up for there program, The Biggest Challenge. It's based on the show The Biggest Loser. It's nine weeks of instruction and support. So I am hoping it will give the motivation I need to keep going. I'm going to blog about my efforts so you get to read all about it. Try to stay awake! I'm really excited about it so stay tuned.
